Buddy Emmons and Lenny Breau

Minors Aloud is a 1978 release with a good, eclectic mix of styles - maybe rough around the edges, but still an excellent showcase for these two phenomenal guitar players. If you have not heard Buddy and Lenny before, here is a fine place to start. If you have, this is a sweet addition to any collection.

In Tribute to Siddharta Mukherjee

Thanks to Brian Brewer, I had a poem published on the Cancer Research Institute's blog. I wrote this in response to The Emperor of All Maladies, a book I recommend. See the blog and poem here -

Brian gives the poem a great introduction. It is in three parts: a.) the stages of cancerous growth in the body as described in the book, b.) the angst and frustration of persons suffering, and c.) modern research. The title "Mountains Beyond Mountains" comes from a chapter in the book.

For more rough biology this Halloween season, I also recommend Parasite Rex by Carl Zimmer.

Cheers,
Angus (who is, as ever),
