Just One More Thing

...about Jackie. She is rightfully famous for her Elgar performances, but check this out -

In this recording of the Dvořák concerto with Daniel Barenboim conducting the Chicago Symphony, she absolutely OWNS the last few minutes. Said recording can be referenced here - the whole performance is a gem, and the Haydn ist auch sehr gut.

Prosit,
Angus

Just listened to your clip now. Jacqui has such a spirit, as well as technical ability.

I've been listening to Dvorak's New World symphony a lot recently - must be the American immigrant theme! :-)

We have a big storm headed toward us, so in the spirit of natural disasters let me recommend an American orchestral piece by Alan Hovhaness - The Mt. St. Helens Symphony... really cool stuff. There are plenty of great American composers, including immigrants like Stravinsky and Martinu. Dvorak also writes great quartet music, including #12, the "American."
